Setting the Bar

Isn't it great when you find happiness in the most unexpected places? This road-stop strip mall near Augusta, Maine made for a handy coffee stop, but the light and the view (yes, even with Rent-a-Center) gave me a different kind of buzz. It makes you wonder what this landscape would have been 40 years ago.

Blue Skies Smiling at Me...

I'm not sure whether it's due to all the storms we've been through lately, but Massachusetts has been seeing some incredible skies. This one was taken out in the 'burbs of Boston, over the power lines.

Lobstah Land

HilNoahWedding 217.jpg

This was the dish at a rehearsal dinner I attended this weekend. It was during this trip that I learned that Maine, land of the lobster, is also nicknamed (at least by the state highway board) "Vacationland"! Now I don't know if lobster has climbed the ranks to be one of my "favorite" things, but cracking into one was certainly a memorable vacation experience... and the presentation was striking.

Breakaway Rose

I caught a shot of this stray rose peeping out through the fence one morning on my way to work. The next day, the bud had been entirely clipped from the stem.

We've Got It Stacked

Pancakes.jpg

The day after a bachelorette party. Pancakes make for great hangover medication.

Pancakes: Mix 3.5 cups flour, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder and milk until the right consistency is reached.

Golden Rods and Rails

OK, back to Europe for a minute. Here's a set of train tracks in Munich, highly filtered of course. We passed over these tracks by bridge many times on the trip, and while very industrial, they were actually a beautiful sight at different times of day.  I think this shot was taken on one of the 4 am visits.

Snapping in the Rain

Shot of umbrella after rain on an increasingly sunny evening...I didn't see any rainbows, but I liked this shot.

Sweet Child of Mine

Couldn't you just eat him up? A recent baby cookie I made for a company baby shower. I dyed the cookie slightly pink for the feet and face portions.

Stairway to Heaven

...or the water closet. Almost as romantic.

Midday Snack

Amazingly, these were called "American Style" hot dogs in Prague's Old Town Square, but they were made with an authentic spicy kielbasa sausage and relish.

Lost in Radost

Here's a shot of downstairs at the Radost FX after midnight...quite a different scene!

Bright Lights Big Chitty

Here's a color-adjusted image of a car I saw parked near the Muzeum stop in Prague. The headlights were particularly cool, I thought.
