Feet Off the Carpet!
This caterpillar reminded me of an Oriental rug, although it is even better than a rug - first, because it has a digestive tract and secondly because it has tiny little brushes for feet that would really keep the floor clean.

Moo Moo
Soph and I took a walk down to the local farm and discovered this gorgeous cow that was hanging out in the barn. The coolest thing was that he was sharing his pen with a pig, getting along swimmingly.
Obstructed View
Here's a sky view (almost) of Boston from the North End. This was actually taken early on July 4th, but I was digging through the archives, since I haven't been taking too many photos this week. It makes me think of summer, which is what's important! Just think: almost August!!

A Spudly Salad
This is my new favorite potato salad. I took a basic recipe and elaborated a bit:
PIPS' POTATO SALAD
1 bag boiled red potatoes, cubed
4 hard boiled eggs, cubed
handful of chopped fresh basil
1 medium onion, diced
5 sliced stalks of celery
1 cup of Miracle Whip
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1 clove garlic
salt, pepper, paprika
Mix all ingredients together except potatoes and eggs. Mix in cubed potatoes, then eggs. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

I'm No Scorpio
Here's a henna tattoo I got this weekend for my tattoo-themed birthday party. It lightened up considerably once the ink dried and fell off, but the effect of the drying ink created a nice effect - I wish I could have kept it like this. I am not a Scorpio. This tattoo had nothing to do with Astrology, since a) I don't take any stock in that stuff and b) anyway dude, I'm a Leo! - but was, rather, in honor of all the Scorpion Bowls we planned to consume that night.

An Alcohol-Free Martini
This reminded me of a colorful martini, but is, rather, a ball spinning around the neck of a blue vase. The flash allowed me to catch a still, but the blurred pictures are cool too.

Fighting the Heat
An unusual lily that I saw on my way back from the festivities in Boston today. Lots of flowers were wilting from the humidity, but this one was putting some fight into it.

Moments after the Italy win... These were the early branders of the Italian flag; there was an enormous crowd close on their heels.
Window Watcher
This North End woman was getting excited for the France-Italy match up in today's World Cup finals. We went to watch the game in Boston's little Italy and it was a centrifuge of excitement.

The Big Bang
Here was a particularly beautiful episode of the Mass. Ave bridge fireworks... I loved the smoke of the previously launched fireworks fading away in the background and the red tint of the sky in this shot.
Finale
Here's a photo of the fireworks finale as seen from a roofdeck in Cambridge tonight. Many of my night shots came out fuzzy, but I lucked out with a few sharp ones like this. After spending the earlier part of the evening in the North End witnessing the Italians win their World Cup game, this made for a great ending to a rowdy night!

Minty Nightcap
We followed the Campari with some homemade Mojitos - even more refreshing! I feel as though I should use mint more. I don't really cook with it much, but I'm sure there are some great recipes. If anyone knows of any, I'd love to hear about 'em!
Blood Oranges
This weekend, we mixed up a couple of sunny Campari Oranges after a long day in the sun! The effect the Campari makes as it mixes with the orange juice is particularly beautiful.

Color Me American
Well, it's Fourth of July weekend, and I get to celebrate with authenticity this year, as I am officially a U.S. citizen! So, my friend Abby and I took a break from the heat in Davis Square with FroYo with red, white, and blue sprinkles. The presentation was better than the flavor, but who's counting?
